Playing with squirrels in East London!

A perfect London Sunday

Now and then, life calls for a walk around EC1. It isn’t a post code I visit often, but the Clerkenwell/Farringdon area is an interesting part of town, with the brutalist Barbican Centre and estate, infamous Bunhill Fields Burial Ground (you must say hi to the squirrels) and Museum of London.

We’re usually in this neck of the woods for Sunday Lunch at the Malmaison. If you follow me on Twitter or read my old blog you’ve heard me rave about it before—basically for £21.95 you get unlimited hors d’oeuvres, soup of the day, main course and dessert. I’ve been a few times and it’s quite the feast!

After all that food it’s wise to walk it off.

This time we decided to head to Shoreditch, which progressed to a visit to Columbia Road (perfectly-timed, with shouts of “two bunches for five paaaaand!” filling the air), then a poke around Hackney City Farm (also well-timed as they’ve currently got nine piglets!) before heading to Clapton for a roast dinner and board games at friend’s house.

Food + flowers + fauna = an ideal London Sunday.
