Looking back I can’t believe we were unsure about visiting Stari Bar. It sounded interesting but was quite far out of the way and would involve taking a bus from Sveti Stefan to Bar, then a train or a taxi or another bus to Stari Bar, and of course then back to Bar, before getting the train on to our next destination, Virpazar. All while carrying a big, heavy rucksack (him, not me, duh). Or we could just go straight from Sveti Stefan to Virpazar.
In the end we decided we had the time so we might as well go. What an excellent choice that was.
I’d almost go as so far to say it’s worth visiting Montenegro to see Stari Bar, also known as Antivari alone. Really and truly.
It was absolutely stunning and I’ve seriously struggled to narrow these photos down (oh yes, I took many more) so I’ll just shut up and leave you with some serious history/architecture porn. I hope you enjoy.
